What is Shen Ti Therapy?

Translated from Chinese, Shen Ti means Spirit Health. Shen Ti Therapy is a service, fully accredited with the International College of Holistic Medicine, which focuses on the ancient practice of touch therapy to prompt your body to maximize its own great capacity to heal itself and to prevent illness. This process is the most natural form of treatment aiding your body to reach a dynamic balanced state, as opposed to using prescription or over the counter drugs.

What is Acupressure?

Acupressure is an ancient healing art that uses the fingers to press key points (acu-points) on the surface of the skin to stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities. These specific points on the body control the flow of your inner life force or Chi. Think of Chi as the universal energy that it is: electro-magnetic energy.  This energy flows through our bodies on meridians, or pathways, like a current through an electrically powered device. Most of these meridians are linked directly to your organs and when one has a blockage or "short-circuit" then the body is not able to function at full capacity and health issues arise. Acupressure treatments keep the meridians clear and thus aid the body to function at its optimum level.

When these points are pressed, they release muscular tension and promote the circulation of blood and the body's life force to aid healing. Acupuncture and acupressure both use the same pressure points, but acupuncture employs needles, while acupressure uses the gentle but firm pressure of hands (and even feet). There is a massive amount of scientific data that demonstrates why and how Acupuncture and Acupressure are effective.

Acupressure, however, continues to be the most effective method for treatment of tension-related ailments by using the power and sensitivity of the human hand.  Foremost among the advantages of acupressures healing touch is that it is safer to perform and the only equipment needed is your practitioner’s hands, allowing for treatment any time, anywhere.

Acupressure has been scientifically proven as effective in helping relieve a myriad of ailments such as headaches, eyestrain, sinus problems, neck pain, backaches, arthritis, muscle aches, and tension due to stress. It can also relieve everything from ulcer pain, menstrual cramps, lower back aches to constipation, and indigestion. You can also use acupressure to relieve anxiety and to help you get a rest-full sleep at night.

There are also great advantages to using acupressure as a way to balance the body and maintain good health. The healing touch of acupressure reduces tension, increases circulation, and enables the body to relax deeply. By relieving stress, acupressure strengthens resistance to disease and promotes wellness.

In acupressure, local symptoms are considered an expression of the condition of the body as a whole. A tension headache, for instance, may be rooted in the shoulder and neck area. Thus acupressure focuses on relieving pain and discomfort as well as on responding to tension before it develops into a "disease" - that is, before the constrictions and imbalances do further damage. By using a combination of methods such as Acupressure with trigger point stimulation, deep breathing, range-of-motion exercises, and relaxation techniques, you can improve your overall health condition as well as feel more alive, healthy, and in harmony with your life.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is based on the 5000 year old holographic principle that states that each area of the body is reflected in another part of the body, such as the feet, hands and ears. Reflexology is a science and an art form that uses stimulation of these reflex zones, which correspond to all major organs, glands and body parts, to promote a balanced state and healing in the body.

What is Trigger Point Therapy?

Myofascial Trigger Points are tender points, which manifest in muscle tissue when postural imbalance, stress, injury or diseases are present. Every muscle, tendon and joint capsule has the potential to develop trigger points. Trigger Points cause increased pain if the muscle is stretched. As an unconscious defense, the muscle shortens and tries to stay
